Adult Day Care and Adult Day Health Centers

 

Adult Day Care (ADC) represents community-based group programs designed to meet the needs of functionality and/or cognitively impaired adults.

 

Adult Day Health Care (ADHC) are generally certified health facilities that treat the health and supportive needs of older adults with multiple, chronic conditions in a safe, homelike day setting.

Medicare

 

The principal federal health insurance benefit program for the elderly (aged 65 and older), some disabled people under 65 years of age, people with End-Stage Renal Disease (permanent kidney failure treated with dialysis or a transplant), and people with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).

National Council on Aging (NCOA)

 

This national, nonprofit group sponsors an online Benefits Checkup program to help people ages 55 and older find programs that may cover some of the costs of prescription drugs, health care, utilities, and other essential items or services.

Hospice Care

 

Hospice care provides humane, compassionate, and palliative care for people in the last phases of incurable disease or health condition. Hospice care is covered under Medicare, Medicaid, most private insurance plans, HMOs, and other managed care organizations.

The Mesothelioma Center

 

The Mesothelioma Center provides advocacy, information, and resources to Mesothelioma patients and their families.

Area Agency on Aging

 

AAAs provide referrals for a wide range of aging and long-term care resources (e.g., housing, transportation, home health services, elder abuse protection, etc.) through their Information and Assistance programs.

 

The Denver Region's AAA is also an Aging and Disability Resource Center of Colorado (ADRC).
